The strategy aims to provide the People¡¯s Government of the Wujin District of Changzhou with a Master Plan and 16-year Development Programme for the development of the Wujin-Taihu Bay Holiday Resort.
The project includes 9 Priority Development Node Plans within the Resort area. Special emphasis has been given to the preparation of an environmentally, social, and economically sustainable development plan. A sixteen-year development programme together with short and medium term action programmes have also been prepared and the impacts of the proposed developments evaluated
The development strategy identifies three development phases for the Wujin-Taihu Bay Holiday Resort, a long-term (2004-2020) Integrated Tourism Development Plan, a Mid-term (2004-2013) Plan, and a Short-term (2004-2008) Implementation Plan.
The International Consulting Company, Carl Bro a/s of Denmark has prepared this study financed by the People¡¯s Government of Wujin with the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) as executing agency. WTO has monitored the work of the consultants throughout the project period. In their work a team of National Consultants managed by the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Administration assisted the International Consultants. The study team was also assisted by senior management of the Eden Project in the UK who made an assessment trip to the study area with the financial support of the WTO.
